Before going to the Philippines, I submitted required documents, and they were accepted. Therefore, I thought that I could immediately take the entrance exams, but it takes some time before the exams. Be careful!
- Application on the website
- Application in Cebu
- Be careful about national holidays!
Application on the website
This is the website.
International students: write your information and submit scanned documents.
The adimin staff checkes your information and emails you if you can take the entrance exams.
Application in Cebu
You have another procedure at the university.
How to enter the university（Main campus）
University of San Carlos has two campuses which are located in downtown and Talamban. The entrance exams are held at the main campus.
When you arrive at the main campus, you need to tell the security staff about the purpose and write your name, purpose, and signature. Besides, you need to leave your ID at the entrance. I left my passport. I highly recommend that you cover your passport.
If your ID is only your passport, I suggest that you bring a copy. It is necessary later.
International Students'Liaison Office
First, you go to the international students’ office and show your documents. The staff member is very kind.
Next, you go to the admission office. They will check what you submitted on the website in advance. My English was too poor to understand the staff’s English.
Before you pay the entrance exam fee, you make the receipt with a machine which is in front of the office. My Filipino friend helped me. You don’t know how to use it, so you should ask someone for help. I paid 500 peso.
I forgot what the place is, but this office is located between the international students’ office and the admission office. Bring your receipt and choose the date when you take the entrance exams. You can take the exams from Monday to Saturday. On weekdays, from 1:30 p.m., and on Saturday, from 8 or 8:30 a.m.
What you must bring to the entrance exams.
You'll get the list to bring.
- Admission Exam Permit
- Pencil（Mongol No.2） & eraser
- Bond paper for scratch
The pencil is Mongol No.2. Do you know Mongol? I imagined Mongolia, but it is different. The Mongol pencil is popular in the Philippines. If you bring other pencils, you might not be allowed to take the entrance exams.
You can get the Mongol pencil at National Bookstore. You’ll see “2” on it. I bought a pack of three pencils.
Bond paper is copy paper which is white and A4. You can buy it at National Bookstore too. When you solve math questions, you’ll need it. I used only one piece of paper.
Snacks are literary snacks. You can eat it during the break. My break only lasted for 10 minutes. I don’t think that you have enough time to eat it.
Be careful about national holidays!
The Philippines have many national holidays. Before taking the exams, please check the holidays, or you won’t be able to take the exams.
